Piero Castiglioni & Roberto Menghi

Piero Castiglioni & Roberto Menghi are two highly-respected Italian architects based in Milan who have collaborated to create prized lighting designs for a range of brands, including Nemo.

Castiglioni grew up around lighting as the son of renowned designer Livio and has been in the industry since the 1970s. Having started his career around the introduction of Europe’s first halogen lamps, Piero considers himself an electrician for his interest in engineering light components. He is among the world’s leading innovators in lighting technology, which can be seen in various important sites. Some of these include museums, palaces, railway stations, parks, urban buildings, monuments and gardens.

With equal talent, Menghi started his lighting career by opening his own design studio in Milan following his WWII service. Having been educated in the prestigious Politecnico, he has been recognised worldwide for his architectural, interior and industrial designs. He has won many awards, including the Grand Prize for Glass and Design Sections twice at the Triennale and the Compasso d’Oro for Design twice.
