Light Dolls by Giovanni Lauda for Rotaliana

Some lamps light a room. Others become part of its story. Rotaliana’s Light Dolls belong firmly to the second kind, and they’ve just arrived at Mondoluce.

Designed by Giovanni Lauda and inspired by the archetypes of Guys and Dolls, the Light Dolls transform light into sculptural presence. Two figures – one bold and masculine, one slender and graceful – each carry a circular tray atop their heads, casting a warm downward glow while doubling as a perch for a place card or small object. It’s a gesture with deep roots: the human figure as bearer of light and offering, a motif that runs from ancient Egypt through Greek and Roman art into contemporary design.

The material is part of the magic. Each lamp is crafted from premium porcelain made in Jingdezhen – white, luminous, and beautifully tactile – so the Light Dolls feel as at home among tableware and dining accessories as they do on a mantel or bedside table. Rechargeable via USB-C with up to 42 hours of battery life, they offer touch dimming and adjustable colour temperature from warm to neutral white, moving effortlessly from the dinner table to a quiet corner of the garden.

Available now in male and female forms across five decorative finishes, the Light Dolls make a luminous gift with genuine character. Made in Italy by Rotaliana.

Discover them in-store, online, or across our South Yarra and Surry Hills showrooms, where our team would love to show you the collection in person.
